Who we are
Stripes & Pips is a sole trader business operating at stripesandpips.com. For the purposes of UK data protection law, Stripes & Pips is the data controller for personal data collected through this website.

What data we collect
We collect only what is necessary to provide the service. Specifically:
- Email address and password - when you create an account. Your password is stored securely by Supabase (our authentication provider) and is never accessible to us in plain text.
- Payment information - when you purchase access. Card details are handled entirely by Stripe and never pass through or are stored on our servers. Stripe also collects the name on your card. We receive a confirmation that a payment was made, along with the name and email address associated with it.
- Quiz session data - your answers, scores, and session history, stored so your dashboard and progress tracking work correctly.
- Messages you send us - if you use the contact form, flag an issue with a question, or email us, we receive what you write and any name or email address you include.
- Technical data - standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) automatically collected by our hosting provider (Vercel). We do not use analytics software.
We do not collect your phone number, postal address, or any other personal information beyond the above.
How we use your data
Your data is used only to provide and improve the Stripes & Pips service:
- To create and manage your account
- To verify your access entitlement when you use the question bank
- To display your progress and session history on your dashboard
- To process your payment and confirm your access period
- To respond to support queries and question flags you send us
- To email customers occasionally about updates to the question bank they have bought, such as new or corrected questions
- To email customers after their exam to ask how they got on, so we can improve the service
We only send these emails to people who have bought access, and each one tells you how to opt out. If you would rather not receive them, reply to any email or contact info@stripesandpips.com and we will stop. Essential account emails, such as password resets and payment confirmations, will still be sent.
We do not send emails promoting other products, we do not sell your data to third parties, and we do not share it with advertisers.
Third-party services
Running this service involves the following third-party providers, each of whom processes some of your data under their own privacy policies:
- Supabase - database and authentication. Stores your email, encrypted password, and quiz session data. Supabase Privacy Policy
- Stripe - payment processing. Handles all card data directly. We never see or store your card details. Stripe Privacy Policy
- Vercel - website hosting. Collects standard server logs. Vercel Privacy Policy
- Zoho Mail - business email. Holds emails you send us and emails we send you. Zoho Privacy Policy
- Formspree - processes the contact form and the "flag an issue" form and forwards them to us by email. Formspree Privacy Policy
- Google Fonts - provides the typefaces used on the site. When a page loads, your browser requests the fonts from Google, which receives your IP address. Google Privacy Policy
How long we keep your data
We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. If you want your account and associated data deleted, email us at info@stripesandpips.com and we will remove it promptly.
Payment records are retained for seven years as required by HMRC for tax purposes. These records are held by Stripe and contain transaction details such as the amount, date, name and email address - not your full card details.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Object to processing of your data
- Request a copy of your data in a portable format
To exercise any of these rights, email info@stripesandpips.com. We will respond within 30 days.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk if you believe your data has been handled incorrectly.
Cookies
This site uses only strictly necessary storage. A login session is stored in your browser so you stay logged in between visits, and your choice of light or dark mode, along with any update notices you have dismissed, is remembered on your own device. None of this is shared with us or anyone else. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or analytics. No cookie consent banner is required because we use only strictly necessary storage.
Security
All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text. We take reasonable steps to protect your data but no internet transmission is completely secure - you use this site at your own risk, as with any online service.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
