Who we are

Stripes & Pips is a sole trader business operating at stripesandpips.com. You can contact us at info@stripesandpips.com. By using this website or purchasing access to the question bank, you agree to these terms.

Stripes & Pips is an independent revision service. It is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, the College of Policing or any police force.

The service

Stripes & Pips provides an online multiple choice question bank designed to help candidates prepare for the NPPF Step 2 Sergeant and Inspector promotion examinations in England and Wales.

Access to the full question bank requires a one-off payment of £29, which gives 6 months of access from the date of purchase. Some content is free for everyone without an account, including the sample questions, the worked questions on the Topics pages and the Guides.

What you get

On purchase you receive:

• Access to the full question bank for 6 months from your payment date
• Use of all revision modes available on the platform during that period
• Access to your personal dashboard and session history

The question bank is a work in progress. The live question count is shown on your dashboard. Any questions added during your access period are included at no extra charge. The number of questions can also go down, for example when a question is withdrawn because the law has changed or an error has been found.

Access is a one-off purchase. It does not renew automatically and you will not be charged again. When your 6 months end, the question bank closes, but your account stays open and you can buy a new access period at the price shown at that time.

Accuracy of content

Every question is reviewed for legal accuracy before it goes live and is checked against the legislation it is based on. The law does change, though, and no revision resource can promise to be perfect, so we cannot guarantee that every question will always reflect the current legal position.

Stripes & Pips is a revision aid, not legal advice. Use it alongside the official study material for your exam.

If you think a question is wrong or out of date, please flag it from inside the question or email info@stripesandpips.com. We aim to look at every report straight away and update the question if needed.

We cannot guarantee that using Stripes & Pips will result in a pass in any examination.

Your account

You are responsible for keeping your login details confidential. Access is personal to the purchaser, so please do not share your account. If we have good reason to believe an account is being shared or misused, we may suspend it. We will contact you first by email to explain why and give you a chance to respond. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us straight away at info@stripesandpips.com.

You can ask us to close your account and delete your data at any time. See our Privacy Policy for details.

Payment and refunds

Payment is processed securely by Stripe. We do not see or store your card details.

Our refund promise. If you are not happy with Stripes & Pips, email info@stripesandpips.com from the address on your account within 30 days of buying and we will give you a full refund. You do not need to give a reason.

Fair use. The refund promise is intended for customers who try Stripes & Pips and find it is not right for them. It is not intended to provide a refund after the service has been substantially used. Accordingly, the refund promise does not apply where:

• the request is made more than 30 days after the date of purchase;
• you have sat the examination for which access was purchased; or
• in our reasonable opinion, having regard to the length of time you have had access and the extent of your use of the question bank, you have received substantial benefit from the service.

This does not affect your legal right to cancel within 14 days, set out below.

Your 14-day right to cancel. Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, you can cancel within 14 days of buying for a full refund, whatever your usage.

Refunds are made to the card you paid with, within 14 days of your request. Your access ends when the refund is made.

Your legal rights

Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, digital content must be as described, of satisfactory quality and fit for purpose. If it is not, you may be entitled to have the problem put right or to a full or partial refund. Advice about your rights is available from Citizens Advice.

Intellectual property

All question content, explanations and site design belong to Stripes & Pips. You may use them for your own personal revision. You may not copy, reproduce, share, distribute or sell any content from this site without written permission.

Statutory wording quoted in questions and explanations is Crown Copyright. It contains public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0.

Our responsibility to you

We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss or damage that was not foreseeable.

Stripes & Pips is provided for personal revision only. We are not responsible for exam results, promotion or career outcomes, or any business loss. We will try to keep the site available, but it may sometimes be unavailable, for example during maintenance or a problem with one of our suppliers.

Apart from the cases below, our total liability to you in connection with your purchase will not exceed the amount you paid for access.

We do not exclude or limit our liability where it would be unlawful to do so. This includes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, for breach of your statutory rights as a consumer, and for damage to your device or other digital content caused by faulty digital content we supplied where we failed to use reasonable care and skill.

Changes to the service or these terms

We may update these terms from time to time, for example to reflect changes in the law or in how the service works. We will change the date at the top of this page when we do. If a change significantly affects an access period you have already paid for, we will email you about it first. If you do not accept it, you can contact us to end your access and receive a refund for the unused part of your access period.

We may change the price of access at any time. A price change does not affect access periods already purchased.

Complaints

If you have a complaint, please email info@stripesandpips.com and we will try to resolve it quickly and fairly.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and you can bring legal proceedings in the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts.
